Cannabicity Debuts Region’s First Official Cannabis Retail Management Advisory Service to Assist Fellow License-Holders in New York

“Powered By Cannabicity” offers investment and expertise to help expand market

SCHENECTADY, N.Y.—Cannabicity, a woman-founded recreational cannabis dispensary and the only cannabis source at Mohawk Harbor, officially celebrated its grand opening for cannabis retail sales on Thursday and announced its newest venture: “Powered By Cannabicity.”

The grand opening was attended by Schenectady Mayor Gary McCarthy, fellow local business owners and supporters. It marks the culmination of more than five years of partnership and planning by the store’s founder, Barbara Vaughn alongside her family and partners.

“It is wonderful to finally be fully achieving my vision: helping individuals who need the relief and relaxation provided by cannabis,” said Vaughn, who used cannabis products in her own ongoing struggle with a rare and debilitating neurological disorder – an ordeal which originally inspired Cannabicity. “I am overjoyed to be officially licensed and open for cannabis sales, and I am further pleased to begin our ‘Powered By Cannabicity’ business and further improve access to these life-changing products.”

The “Powered By Cannabicity” brand is a groundbreaking formal business model for the Capital Region. It takes advantage of a provision in New York law allowing for retail cannabis license holders to sign partnership agreements with managed service providers – allowing the partners to share investment, knowledge, operations and profits from a cannabis dispensary while the licensee retains majority ownership.

“Powered By Cannabicity” also announced it has signed its first partner licensee, Coastal Green. Licensed to a formerly justice-impacted individual under New York’s prior restrictive cannabis laws, Coastal Green’s team secured a conditional adult-use retail dispensary (CAURD) license but were unable to open and operate a store. Through the partnership, Coastal Green’s storefront on Delaware Avenue in Albany is now being renovated and is expected to open by Summer 2025, “Powered By Cannabicity.”

Cannabicity’s grand opening celebration continues through Sunday, March 9 and includes a chance for every customer to earn up to 50% off of their purchase by spinning the store’s “JackPOT Wheel” at checkout. “Super Specials” and new extended store hours are also part of the celebration.
