Cannabis and Halloween: Keep the CBD and Cannabis Treats Away From Little Monsters!
Halloween is a time for treats – for grown-ups, too! But let’s be honest for a moment: while your CBD and THC cannabis-infused gummies look good enough to eat (and they are!), none of them should ever be consumed by trick-or-treaters. We’re here to help you responsibly separate your holiday goodies from “the goods.”
Why It's Important
THC, the psychoactive compound in cannabis, can be harmful to children. Consuming THC-infused edibles can lead to serious health issues in kids including extreme drowsiness, confusion, anxiety and—in severe cases—respiratory distress. Aside all that, it’s simply against the law for minors to buy, possess or use full cannabis (and most of that also applies for CBD products).
Tips for Keeping Cannabis-Infused Treats Safe
1. Store Edibles Securely and Separately
Keep all edibles in a secure, child-proof location. Consider using lockable containers or cabinets to ensure they are inaccessible to children. Store your cannabis edibles separately from regular Halloween candy, and avoid any confusion by designating a specific area for adult treats – far away from where you store the children's goodies.
2. Label Clearly
Clearly label all cannabis-infused products. Use bold labeling devices like Post-It notes, bold Sharpies – whatever it takes to distinguish them from regular snacks. Consider adding warning stickers to make it even more obvious that these treats are for adults only.
3. Educate Your Kids
Depending on their age, you may choose to explain to your children that some treats are only for adults. Use simple language to make sure they understand the importance of not consuming or even touching these items.
4. Be Mindful at Parties
If you're hosting or attending a Halloween party, ensure that cannabis-infused treats are clearly marked and kept out of reach of children. Inform other adults at the party about the presence of cannabis edibles to prevent any mix-ups or unintended use.
Disclaimer
Always use cannabis products responsibly and in accordance with local laws and regulations. If you suspect a child has consumed a THC or CBD-infused product, seek medical opinion and attention immediately.
